We all know what they are experts on, but we want to know what makes our speakers tick. In this series, we sit down with some of our key speakers for 60 seconds to find out a bit more about them before we see them on stage at the All Payments Expo in New Orleans, 21-23 March 2016.
60 Seconds with…
Big Data Senior Director, SEARS
1. What is your personal philosophy?
As an intra-preneur, we can all be entrepreneurs in a corporate world.
2. What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
I helped out with background music at a theater event for a play called “Mouse Trap” (By Agatha Christy). No, I didn’t compose the background music. My job was to Forward/Rewind/Play selected pre-recorded music pieces on cassette tapes for various events (phone ring, call pick-up, someone fell etc.etc.). It was pretty weird (and very difficult) to keep an eye on the scene while managing different buttons on a tape-recorder and hit on/off at a precise time (think of how awkward it would be for the audience to hear the sound of someone falling down after that person has already stood up). I think I finished the job on a high note ;).
3. If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
An Astronaut working for Space X (On the day when they depart for ISS in Dragon Capsule). I guess, I am just looking for some fresh air.
4. Disruption is always on the tip of everyone’s tongue. In your opinion, what is going to be the ultimate game-changer for the payments industry?
At some point soon, we shouldn’t require any card or even a wallet to transact. Hopefully, soon enough not even a digital device. A unique combination of voice, finger-print, retina (Let’s put DNA in the mix too..) should be able to securely transact global digital currency.
5. What are you most looking forward to at the All Payments Expo 2016 in New Orleans?
Other than catching up on some spicy NOLA food, I look forward to seeing fellow retailers and learn how they are improving customer experiences while increasing security. I also look forward to seeing vendors offering unique solutions to impact (and potentially disrupt) payment industry.
