Chief Operating Officer, Buyatab

1. What is your personal philosophy?

Always put people before profit. Your customers are your greatest asset as long as you know how to listen to them.

2. What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

When I was younger I worked at a T-shirt printing shop. My only task was to fold shirts all day; I managed to get pretty quick at it. It was a humbling life lesson to realize that no one can just step right into their dream job, any success I’ve found has been due to a lot of hard work.

3. If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

It’s hard for me to picture not working at Buyatab, but I’ve always admired the work of a mechanic. I love learning new things, but I’m totally useless at fixing cars. I feel like I could gain really useful skills spending a day under the hood of a car.

4. Disruption is always on the tip of everyone’s tongue. In your opinion, what is going to be the ultimate game-changer for the payments industry?

I bet it sounds obvious, but I think the increased usage of mobile devices are going to play a major role in revolutionizing the industry. I know we are seeing it now in its infancy, but I think this year we’ll see mobile payments really take off.  Once we see the general public begin paying with their mobile devices, the world of payments will swiftly evolve.

5. What are you most looking forward to at the All Payments Expo 2016 in New Orleans?

I’m really looking forward to hosting the panel on Tuesday and chatting about digital gift card design and user experience. I know it sounds like a strange passion, but digital gift cards have been an important part of my life. I absolutely love hearing the different real world applications of digital gifts, and although I feel like an expert – I’m constantly learning about new facets of the market from the industry leaders I connect with at APEX.

Buyatab are sponsoring the All Payments Expo taking place in New Orleans, 21st – 23rd March 2016.
